Happy Birthday Charlie Chaplin!

I remember today, a man with a small mustache, wearing his bowler hat and carrying a cane, walking his typical walk, smiling away and making us laugh..one of the greatest actors, directors and  writers of all times..Mr.Charlie Chaplin..

A day without laughter is a day wasted.

BROKEN NEWS!

With so many events on in the world forum there's one chunk of people who gain the most outta the disastrous happenings..And its none other then the news agencies and the channels..

Along with delivering to us the breaking news, what it also does is brings with it a hell lot of irritating advertisements..
Indian news channels are the worst when it comes to ads..
Just wen we are watching an interesting piece of news there comes an ad equally contrasting to the news currently on..
And the number of ads are directly proportional to the number people watching the news..as the traffic to the channel increases they put up more ads then the news..
And so when you see the ad and you know its going to take another 10mins for the news to return..You decide to change the channel..but alas!! if u had hoped to find something on the other channels u r up for a huge disappointment..It seems like all the news channels have coordinated their ad timings..so if a news channel has an ad on, then  the others will follow..

In addition to the annoying ads they have this another feature "tickers" which takes up almost half the screen..
The channel that i was watching today (which got on my nerves and so the blog) had about 3 tickers simultaneously and I was left in a dilemma about which ticker should I follow..Moreover, they go on repeating the same pictures, the same clips and somehow  manage to twist the words and sell the same piece of scrap for another hour..

So at all times i prefer to watch the BBC world news which is a sight of relief for the Indian news seekers..cuz contrary to all the Indian news channels, the video clips and the pictures are not repeated in a section of news, the ads are shown at the end of the news section or at the start and to top this all its devoid of tickers or at rare-times there's a minimal use of tickers..

I hope that someday we are given the actual "breaking news" instead of the "broken" ones that we are fooled with these days..

~~RESPECT~~

Be the change that you want to see in the world..Just like GANDHI

Shocking Gadaffi's Statement..

I was shocked to read the following in TOI..

Gaddafi made the remarks in an interview with Milan-based daily Il Giornale from his his headquarters in the Libyan capital Tripoli.
Asked whether he feared ending up like former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein, who was toppled by a US-led invasion and then hanged for war crimes, Gaddafi said: 'No, our war is against al-Qaeda.'
However, 'if they (the West) behave with us as they did in Iraq, then Libya will leave the international alliance against terrorism.'
'We will then ally ourselves with al-Qaeda and declare a holy war,' Gaddafi said.

The Jasmine Revolution..

Jasmine revolution which started in Tunisia is a civil resistance by the people against its longtime president. Street demonstrations form a main part of the revolution. The demonstrations which have have now precipitated throughout the  Arab nations are mainly because of the  discontent in a common-man due to unemployment, corruption, lack of freedom etc.

It all started when a 26 year old  Mohamed Bouazizi a vegetable seller and the sole income of his family set himself on fire in front of the provincial headquarters after being opressed by the government officials. Public outrage grew in no time leading to protests and riots.

This is yet another example which shows that the government shouldn't underestimate a common-man cuz he is patient and understanding but when a line is crossed..he rises and he rises in numbers with determination and his wrath which had been kept supressed for a long long time bursts out and takes with it the downfall of the government..

The Jasmine revolution has opened the eyes of many other countries who had been bearing the atrocities of their rulers till now..and similar such protests were seen in Tunisia's neighbouring countries like Egypt..Tunisia and Egypt got its freedom- freedom from an autocratic rule..

These protests have been started in mainly those regions where the unjust regimes have ruled for decades..The nations which have recently started protesting are Bahrain, Libya, Yemen, Morocco, Algeria, Oman and there was also a protest attempt seen in China..

These days the world is watching Libya for the ongoing unrest. Gaddafi who has ruled the country for  four decades now, has surprised everyone by using the military and the bullets on his own people.

The Jasmine revolution and the other protests it inspired will definitely go down in history and it is now for the world to watch where it leads to and learn a great deal from it.

The White Massai (Die weisse Massai )

I was flipping through channels like an evryday routine..
Today a movie which was  being featured on the world movies caught my attention..Although it was half-way done i sat to watch it.."The white massai"..
When I googled it, I was surprised to know its based on a true story..An autobiographical book written by Corinne Hofmann.
The storys about love and what happens when a lady from swizz falls in love with a masai warrior Lketinga Leparmorijo..The Masai are a tribe living in a an arid desert and conditions so different from her life back in Switzerland..
There are events which are a part of the masai culture which corinne finds repelling where as Lketinga has been living with it all his life and doesnt understand why she finds it weird..
The movie shows how Corinne tries to adjust to her new life, trying to make her love work inspite of all the cultural differences..
It makes us cross our cultural boundaries and look at the world in a different way..

Nippon no tame no inori

All over the TV and all over the newspapers we come across the recent events that have been happening in Japan.
It feels like we are living a horrific movie..
In front of our eyes the nature works out a plan of devastation and we are left helpless just staring, praying and hoping that things would mild down..
But then we read about the earthquake, tsunami, fire at the oil refineries, explosions at the nuclear reactors and the volcanic eruptions..all back to back..like it was all plotted?!
I cant imagine what would have happened if something of this magnitude had struck India..
Just last month caught in the Egypt curfew at the airport I sat across a happy Japanese family, thinking to myself, they are not very different from us..just a bit more polite and disciplined..I grew to like them in no time..I hope they are fine..
And all this I feel sitting here miles and miles away from where the actual scene is taking place..I can only imagine the fear gripping the people actually caught in the terrible events..Our hearts reach out to them and people from all over the world are praying for Japan..
